In the meantime I might be the bearer of bad tidings. Any comments are welcome on that subject by the way. Just stumbled upon this looking for reviews on the Hybrid 'cos I was hoping to use it to plug my old playstation consoles into my Mac.

If it does then consider a fresh install of OS X on your main drive. Install a fresh copy of OS X on another drive or USB flash drive (16 GB minimum.) Boot from it and install the EyeTV software. Could be corrupted preference or cache files or a third-party application or utility that you are using.Ģ. You will then need to figure out what is in your normal account that is causing the problem with EyeTV.
The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on removing software. Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate. There are many utilities that can uninstall applications. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.

Some software uses startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process. Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.
If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. If it does then follow this guide to uninstall the software in your normal account: Install the EyeTV software and see if it works. for the last couple of weeks i've been turning it on and off as required and it seems to not have any side effects. I read its best not to touch it till its cool as it might fall apart. i then turned off the oven and left the door open to cool down. and left it sitting there for 15 minutes. when the flames had gone low I stuck the hybrid on a piece of aluminium foil (after removing the plastic casing - it just snaps apart). Suffice to say I heated the oven gas mark 6. I of course have a gas cooker and didn't really do the math. He suggested an electric oven and a set temp. He talked about dry solder joints and suggested heating the oven and instead of just warming up the hybrid to actually cook it to the point of the solder turning to liquid.
which i can't find at the moment (want to thank the guy)!! A few months have trickled by & for the most part i just left the hybrid plugged in and running in the background.
